Underwear
Underwear / 1997 / group of sculpture / bronze / height 40cm
I created the sculptural group “Underwear” some years ago for an ironic exhibition entitled “Bronze”, which we organized with some friends and our Professor Karel Nepraš. The principle behind this exhibition was that nobody had money to cast the sculptures into bronze, so we all created sculptures that we would like to make in bronze, from any type of material, and covered it with a bronze patina so that nobody would be able to notice the difference. The only bronze sculpture at the exhibition was our Professor’s sculpture. It was a little pickled gherkin cast in bronze. Some time later I found this Underwear sculpture in a dark corner of my studio, and I noticed that it wasn’t bad….so I decided to cast it in real bronze.
